VETERAN "Q" EMPLOYEE DIES FRIDAY EVENING

Jesse Bond Stout, 1229 East Main Street, Galesburg, for 38 years a Burlington Railroad employee, died Friday afternoon, 25 Apr 1941, at 4:45 pm in St. Mary's Hospital from an acute heart condition. He had been a hospital patient since Monday and in failing health the last six months.
Mr. Stout, who resided in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ben J Huff, had an interesting career with the railroad. When a lad of 15 years he was employed as a call boy and worked at that job until reaching an age when the railroad accepted him as a locomotive fireman. In due time his promotion to engineer followed and then his transfer to a position of engine inspector in the Chicago yards.
He was born here in Galesburg, the son of Jesse Sr. and Caroline (Taylor) Stout, 5 Apr 1868. His marriage to Miss Dorothy Straub also took place in this city 25 Dec 1888, when Mr. Stout was 20 years old. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Surviving are six children: Mrs. Huff with whom he resided; Mrs. Gertrude Mathley, Verne E Stout, Chauncey Stout and Glenn Stout, all of Chicago; Francis Stout, North Cambridge, Mass. There are seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. J H Weidenhammer, Galesburg; and three brothers: Harry Stout, Galesburg; Alonzo Stout, Los Angeles, Cal.; and William Stout, Pekin, IL.

Funeral services were held at the Horton-Hinchliff and Wilson Funeral Home with the Rev. R Claibourne Johnson of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg.
