Jean Carolyn Walker Burt, 90, former long-time resident of Windermere Drive, died Thursday, July 23, 2015 at The Garden of Poplar Estates.

Born and reared in the Athendale and Godwin-Chappell communities, she was the daughter of the late George Givens Walker and Elise Fraser Walker. She was a 1943 graduate of Columbia Central High School and attended George Peabody College and Columbia Business College.
As a young lady she worked as a secretary at Middle Tennessee Bank where she met her future husband, James Wade Burt. They married October 15, 1947. He preceded her in death May 19, 2011.
An avid reader, Mrs. Burt was a long-time supporter of Maury County Public Library and a member of The Students Club. She also served as a volunteer for a number of years with Maury Regional Medical Center Auxiliary.
She was a member of Graymere Church of Christ.
Survivors include her son, Stephen Wade (Sylvia Thompson) Burt of Columbia
