The 1900 DC Census showed a widowed Elizabeth Burke, age 27, and her four children living with Charles' mother, Elizabeth Burke, age 74. So it appears that Charles was her late husband.
Charles F. Burke died in Washington, D. C. on January 2, 1900 at Sibley Hospital and was buried on January 5, 1900 at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Washington. Charles was a carpenter and resided at 1502 Turner Street. His primary cause of death was typhoid fever and the immediate cause was perforation of bowel.
