Deseret News, Salt Lake City, Apr 26, 2007

Jack A. Hollien Together Again Jack A. Hollien passed away peacefully the morning of April 24, 2007. He was born March 31, 1918 to Marcelle and William Hoellien in American Fork, Utah. As a young man his days were spent outdoors. He loved horses and spoke fondly and longingly of his days herding sheep. His cowboy days took him to Soldier Summit, Utah where he met Norma McGuire and the two were later married on February 9, 1940 in Daniels, Utah. He and Norma were the parents of five children; Joyce and (Gary) Robinson; Jack and (Kaye) Hollien; Helen and (Jay) Ekins; infant son Raymond; and Brian and (Jerrine) Hollien. He is survived by 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grand-children. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Norma; infant son Raymond; brother, Bill; and son-in-law Gary Robinson. His working life covered a multitude of areas from early days of rodeo, sheepherding, operating heavy equipment; honorable service in the US Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater; laboring on the Glen Canyon Dam, self employment as a baker, landlord, US Mail contractor and many years operating J & J RV Sales in Tooele. His interests were varied from camping, hunting and fishing with family and friends; prospecting and map reading; and raising a prized garden which supplied his needs as well as neighbors, friends and family. A viewing will be held on Friday, April 27 from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, April 28 at 10 a.m., one hour prior to the services at Tate Mortuary, 110 South Main, Tooele, Utah. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with interment following at American Fork Cemetery, 100 East 650 North, at 2 p.m. The family wishes to thank Dr. Cindy Leech at the VA Hospital for her tender care and nursing staff at the Utah State Veterans Nursing Home.
