MRS. CAROLINE V. NOWLAND(?), 78, of 3716 Staunton Avenue, S.E., died in a Charleston hospital after a short illness.

She was a member of the Ruffner Memorial Presbyterian Church and taught classes there. She was a member of the Kanawha Valley Chapter of the D.A.R. and had been a resident of Charleston for the past 39 years.

Surviving are a daughter, and two grandchildren.

The body is at the Barlow-Bonsall Funeral Home.
