MOTHER
18 May 1873 - The Tipton Advertiser

DIED of consumption, May 2nd, 1873, Rebeca Scott, aged 58 years, 8 months and 23 days.

Mrs. Scott was born in Carrall Co., Ohio, Sept. 21st, 1815. Married and moved to Beaver Co., Pa., and came to Scott Co., Iowa in 1843. United with the M.E. Church in 1844. Has resided in Sugar Creek township, Cedar county, for 17 years.

A few hours previous to her death she called her family around her, and gave to each a few words of counsel. After praying for grace to support her through the hour of trial, she seemed anxiously awaiting the call of the Master. With the name of Jesus upon her lips she glided silently and swiftly over the river to join her husband and son Henry who had passed over before. There are eight children left who are trying to follow the example of their parents and live consistent Christian lives.
