She was 11 years old when her family decided to join the pioneers heading for Utah. They headed for America on the ship "Samuel Curling" on April 19, 1856. After arriving in America they went to Iowa City and joined the first handcart company to that area, under the direction of Captain Ellsworth. They experienced what many pioneers faced: hunger, fatigue and thirst. But she with her family did make it and was the first of the company to arrive while the captain had to go back to help another company following them.

Lovinia then moved to Franklin, Utah, where on May 29 1866 she married John N. Adams and was the mother of 12 children.

INformation I got from the book Pioneer Women of Faith and Fortitude Volume 1.
