Murl A. Campbell was the middle child of five children born to Canadian, Burton and American, Sarah (Dicey) Campbell, in Merritt Twp., Bay County. Her two older sisters were Sarah "Sadie" and Edwinna "Winnie", and her younger siblings were William "Will" and Florence "Flossie". She appears to have been the only child without a nickname. We are not sure where the name Murl came from. In her very short life, under 10 years, she was ill much of her last two years. Family stories attribute her death to Scarlet Fever. No death certificate can be found. We are happy to know a little about her life from several letters written to her Grandma, Sarah A.C. Dicey, and also happy that her headstone was finally found after many years of searching by her present day family.
