FLOYD E. FOOTE DIED SATURDAY
Former Sheriff Was 28 Years In Law Enforcement
Active In Civil Affairs; Lived In Blanchester Area.
Floyd E. Foote, 77, of Wilmington Route 2 (SR 134) died at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, at 9:30 p.m. Saturday. He had been failing for six months and seriously ill two months.
Mr. Foote spent 28 years in local law enforcement. He was a Clinton County sheriff's deputy from 1937 to 1953, sheriff from 1953 to 1961, and for the past three years was probation officer with the Clinton Co. Juvenile Court.
His wife, the former Ora Hampton, whom he married August 8, 1914, survives.
A native of Westboro, he was born Aug. 1, 1893, the son of J. Elbert and Anna A. Carroll Foote. He lived in and near Blanchester until moving to Wilmington when named a deputy sheriff. He has farmed, conducted a retail milk business in Blanchester for six years and was a member of Blanchester Lodge No. 191, F&AM, Sabina Moose Lodge, Wilmingron Elks and Blanchester Eagles, Buckeye Sheriffs Association, and was an honorary life member of the Sheriff and Police Association, South West Distric of Ohio.
In 1950, Mr. Foote was named director of civil defense in Wilmington and Clinton County.
Also surviving are a son, John E., of Baton Rouge, La; a brother, Carroll, of Blanchester; two sisters,Mrs. Anvilla Weaver of Toledo and Mrs. Mildred Fehr of Cincinnati; five grand children; two great-grandaughters, and several nieces and nephews. A daughter, Mrs. Ruby Rider, died in 1962.
Services were conducted at the Hannah Funeral Home, Blanchester, by the Rev. E. James Dickey, Wednesday at 2 p. m. with burial in West Woodville Cemetery.
