Lilly Lee (Barker) Qualls

GATE CITY, Va. - Lilly Lee Barker Qualls, 98, walked gracefully into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ Tuesday morning ( April 6, 2004 ).

She was of the Baptist faith and was the most kind-hearted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Although we rejoice with the angels as she enters her eternal home.

She was born in Scott County , Va. , Aug. 31, 1905 , to the late Henry Barker and Renie Rhoton Barker.

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Oscar Belve "Bill" Qualls; sisters, Laura Free, Rosa Bishop, Lovely Kendal; brothers, Doyle Barker, Vernon Barker, Lawrence Barker and Elmer Barker; and several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by a son, Johnnie Forster Qualls, Kingsport; one daughter, Patsy Jewel Bradley, Weber City, Va.; and a very special beloved "son," Howard (Rhonda) Bradley, Weber City, Va.; grandchildren, Ann E. (Scott) Larkins, Karla J. (Randy) Lochas, Belva L. Edwards, Lisa L. (Stan) Jennings, Susie (Jeffrey) Walker, John Q. (Sarah) Qualls; and several great-grandchildren, Chris, Jaime, Austen, Madison, Chelsea, Kirsten, Greyson, Ally, Savannah, Megan, Shenoah, Samantha, McKenzie, Destiny, Gunnar and Beth; two special nieces, Kylene Stapleton and Sharlie Housewright.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Gate City Funeral Home. Friends may also call at other times at 123 Ventor Drive , Weber City , Va.

Services will be at 8 p.m. Friday in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Blessing and the Rev. Kelly Carter officiating.

Music will be provided by Larry Bishop and New Grace.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Holston View Cemetery , Weber City , Va. Family and friends will meet at 12:15 p.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
