Elizabeth Harris Abbitt, 89, of the 1400 block of W. Princess Anne Road, died Dec. 15, 1994, in a Norfolk hospital.

Mrs. Abbitt, a native of Norfolk, was the widow of J. Morton Abbitt. She was a lifelong member of Ghent United Methodist Church in Norfolk. She was past treasurer and finance officer of the Norfolk City Union of The King's Daughters. She was vice chairman of Children's Hospital Foundation Board and a member of Lookout Circle of The King's Daughters, and a member of Old Donation Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Anne Alfriend Abbitt; four grandsons, John M. Abbitt III, Jeffery A. Abbitt, James B. Abbitt, all of Norfolk, and Robert B. Abbitt of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; four great-grandaughters, Anne Randolph Wood, Rosemary Abbitt, Mariel Abbitt and Sarah Catherine Abbitt; and two great-grandsons, John M. Abbitt IV and Joel T. Abbitt.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk, by the Rev. Ross Wright. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters or to a charity of choice.
