"Mrs. Katharine Denney died Friday afternoon at 2:30 at her home on Garfield Avenue from the effects of the fracture of her hip sustained in a fall some weeks before.
The deceased was the widow of Elijah Denney. She was born in Garret [Garrard] county, Kentucky and was 83 years, 10 months and 29 days old.
To her were born thirteen children, nine sons and four daughters, of whom the following survive: Rice W. Denney, Elijah Denney, Levi Denney, David Denney, John T. Denney, Mrs. Elizabeth Wilson, Mrs. Katharine Ekus, Mrs. Susan Polly. One sister survives the deceased, Mrs. Jane Tomblin, of Falmouth, Kentucky. The only brother died some time ago. She leaves 58 granchildren, and 56 great grandchildren.
The remains will be taken to Fiskburg, Kentucky, this afternoon where the funeral will be held at the Baptist church of which she was a member. Interment will be made there.
The long life of Mrs. Denney was a useful one and her children called her blessed."
