Elizabeth Ann Hester was born in Georgia, the daughter of Randolph Hester (1790-1851) and Elizabeth Yarbrough (1792-1872). She married James Alexander Auld on 12 December 1833 in Lowndes County Alabama. Elizabeth and James, along, with Randolph Hester, moved to Sumter County Alabama soon after their marriage. Then in November 1835, they moved across the state line into Kemper County Mississippi. James, his brother Elijah, and father John F. Auld all purchased adjoining farms in Kemper County, which they cultivated during the 1836 and 1837 growing seasons. During the winter of 1837/1838, James' brother left and moved west to what is now Union Parish Louisiana, while Elizabeth and James returned across the state line into Sumter County Alabama, where they remained until the mid-1840s. About that time, Elizabeth and James, as well as the Hesters, moved to Union Parish Louisiana. The Hesters settled in southern Union Parish near Downsville, while Elizabeth and James bought a farm in eastern Union Parish next to the farm of his brother, Elijah Michael Auld, and located near the farm of Elijah's brother-in-law, David Ward and the Ward's Chapel Cemetery.

Elizabeth Hester Auld died there about 1851 or early 1852, leaving six young children.
