US ARMY

Early Life: Roy was born on November 1, 1927, in Orem, Utah, to Alvin Alexander and Pearl Skinner Loveridge. He attended schools in Orem, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1946. He was awarded a full scholarship in track to Brigham Young University. He ran the 880 in 1.57 seconds, the record of which he broke when a senior in high school and held for almost 10 years.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: He was in the construction business with his father prior to be inducted in the United States Army in September of 1950. He served in the artillery division, was in Korea for 12 months and honorably discharged in June 1952 as a Sergeant First Class. He wrote faithfully in his Journal every day, even in Korea, and did so until his passing. On December 27, 1950, Roy married his sweetheart, Dorothy Drew, in the Logan Utah LDS Temple, during leave from the Army before being shipped to Korea. They had two sons, Bret (deceased) and Dean Loveridge. His sons were the most important thing in Roy’s life; their well being was his first priority. He graduated from Barber College in Salt Lake City and started barbering in the old Newhouse Hotel prior to opening his own shop in American Fork. After 17 years, he sold his barber shop and returned to his first profession as a General Contractor. Roy worked in this profession for 16 years before opening another barber shop in American Fork. He retired in February of 2004. Fishing was one of his great loves, as was hunting. He was a master carpenter creating many beautiful homes, furniture and cabinets.
