Fern Marie Holbert Hunter
88, of Anaheim, California passed away peacefully at her home on January 23,2014. Born February 26, 1925 in Hendersonville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Gertis and Essie Corn Holbert. In addition to her parents, Fern was preceded in death by her brothers, Marvin, Gertis “Bud” and Harold Holbert. Sister’s Evelyn Newman, Irene Ball, Ethel Gibbs and Helen Hicks. She is survived by three sons, Tommy and his wife, Judy Hunter of Hendersonville, Donnie and his wife Linda Hunter of Saluda, and Larry Hunter of Los Angeles, California. Two grandson’s, Lee Hunter and Terry and his wife, Denise Hunter of Hendersonville. Great grandchildren, Jackson, Jordan, Natalie and Kennedy Hunter. A sister-in-law Burdette Holbert.
Fern graduated from NC School for the Deaf in Morganton, NC. She worked in Washington DC before moving to California in the early ‘60’s.
A graveside service will be held on her 89th birthday, February 26, 2014 at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery at 3:00pm. Fern will be laid to rest next to her parents.
