Johnny M. Shea Dies on Tuesday
John M. Shea died at midnight Tuesday in a hospital in New Orleans, La., after a short illness of pneumonia. The remains will be brought here for burial in Mt. Hope Cemetery. He was born and reared in Franklin, son of the late Cornelius and Ella Lunn Shea, [and] was educated in the Franklin public schools. He was known as a skilled artist and many windows in Franklin have shown evidence of his success as a sign painter. For ten years he operated the Cigar Store now known as West Point, and was also connected with the State Highway Garage before going to New Orleans to make his home. He was a communicant of St. Philip's Catholic Church, quiet and unassuming in his disposition and devoted to his family. His sister, Miss Mary Kate Shea, and half-brother, Jesse Davis, left Franklin Saturday and were with him when the end came. Other survivors are a brother, Joe Shea of Nashville, and half-brother, Corporal Robert Davis, located with the Army in England. Miss Nelle Shea and Rainey Lunn, of Franklin, are among his aunts and uncles.Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 9 o'clock from St. Philip's Catholic Church with Rev. John A. Elliott officiating. W. J. Bethurum & Son in charge.
