Born in Wilkes Barre, PA, he was a son of the late John and Helen (Kuren) Bobyak.
He was a self-employed upholsterer and was the owner of John’s Upholstery in Pennsburg. He was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Pennsburg, a member of the American Legion Post #184, East Greenville, and was a volunteer for the Relay for Life of Upper Perk.
John served in the US Army in the Korean War, receiving a Bronze Star for heroic service.
Surviving John, are his son, Peter Bobyak and wife, Theresa, of Vero Beach, FL; daughters, Rhoda Hettrick of Pennsburg, PA, Kristen Hettrick of Lansdale, PA; sons, Randall Hettrick and wife, Doris of Siesholtzville, PA, Ronald Hettrick of Green Lane, PA; daughters, Joanna and husband, Thomas Walter of Pennsburg, PA, Terry and husband, Col. Timothy G. McCarthy (Ret) of Furlong, PA, and Tama and husband, Jesse Celi of Toana, VA; sister, Helen Cencetti of Old Forge, PA; grandchildren, Corrie Nyce, Stacey McDonnell, Kristy Primodie, Shannon Mitchell, Sirena Hettrick, Alyssa Hettrick, Ashton Onisick, Jennifer McCarthy, David McCarthy, Jonathan Celi, and Michael Celi; great-grandchildren, RJ, Simone, Tristin, Taylor, Andrew, Aubrey, Tyler, Sebastian, Lux, Maeve and Harper; and great great-grandchildren, Kyle and Jason. Along with his wife, he is predeceased by a son, John Bobyak, Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA 18041 with Rev. Charles E. Romanowski officiating. Burial follows in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Pennsburg. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
