George was the son of Dr. Leland T. Bohannon. George came to Dallas County with his parents in the 1870s and they lived in the Buckner Orphans' Home community. In the 1900 census he was living with his parents and was listed as a carriage painter. In the 1910 census he was living in Waxahachie, Ellis County, Texas.

George moved to Paris, Lamar County, Texas, a month before his death. According to the death certificate he was married and the proprietor of a billiard and pool hall.

His funeral service was held in the chapel at Buckner Orphans' Home, and the Odd Fellows had charge of the service at the grave.
