Civil War veteran, joined Co. H 117th. New York Infantry at Remsen N.Y on 19 August 1864.
Killed in action at Darbytown Road Va. 27 October 1864 after only nine weeks service.
In the book "Descendants of Joseph Loomis in America", revised edition 1908, page 328, it is noted that Morris is buried at Unadilla Forks N.Y.
This appears to be a memorial marker, as Morris is most probably buried in an unmarked grave at Richmond National Cemetery Va.
