Josie passed into heaven on July 15, 2015 at 12:30 a.m. at Ochsner Hospital in Baton Rouge at the age of 87.

She joins her husband and youngest son. Josie was a native of Rockford, IL and resident of Plaquemine. She retired from Capital Bank and Trust and the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office where she worked in the Criminal Records Division.

Visiting will be at Wilbert Funeral Home in Plaquemine on Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. and again on Monday from 8 a.m. until Rite of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., conducted by Rev. Reuben Dykes. Burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Park in Baton Rouge.

Josie is survived by her son, Joseph Barry McBride, who was her heart and soul and his wife, Vicki; grandchildren, Leah “Shelley” McBride, Kristin Jill McBride Bozeman, Brandon McBride, Ashlyn McBride, Michelle McBride, Steven Smith; great grandchildren, Dustin Graham, Drew Graham, Derek Graham, Greta Bozeman; two sisters, Angelina Ahrend and Maryann Ritterman; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Josie was preceded in death by her husband, James W. “Jim” McBride, her youngest son, Patrick D. “Ricky” McBride, parents, Samuel and Rosa Varisco Bonacorso; one brother, Vic Filardo; two sisters, Rosalee Picasso and Cindy Kidder.

Josie was a member of The Louisiana Sheriff’s Association.

Pallbearers will be Rhodie Sanchez, Pete Kelley, Brandon McBride, Curtis Ducote, Donnie Bozeman, Dustin Graham.

Honorary pallbearers will be Arthur “Butch” Dupree and Derek Graham.
