Final Rites Held For George Barber Sr.
Funeral services for George H. Barber Sr., were held last Wednesday at the First Baptist church. He died Sunday evening at the Granite Falls Manor.
George Herbert Barber Sr. was born July 31, 1881, in Minnesota Falls township on the same farm he lived on all his life. On September 7, 1905, he was united in marriage to Clara V. Denison in Granite Falls.
Throughout his life he lived and farmed on his farm in Minnesota Falls township until October of 1964 when he moved to the Granite Falls Manor with his wife. He was a member of the Baptist church.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Clara. He is survived by his five sons, Raymond of Seattle, Washington; Harold, a missionary to Columbia, South America, who is now on a year's furlough in the United States; Albert of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and Lloyd and George Jr. of Granite Falls.
Also surviving him are 21 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers at the services conducted by the Rev. E. E. Streblow were Ellsworth Sandberg, Walter Peterrein, Lonnie McElhaney, Ben Tebben, Thomas Brown and Erland Johnson.
Interment was in Doncaster cemetery with the Hamre Funeral home in charge of arrangements.
