Alexander Frank Mezzo, 87, died Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Regency Jewish Heritage Nursing Home in Somerset. Al was born and raised in Newark, lived in Union before moving to North Plainfield in 1951. Al was self employed working in printing sales. He was a communicant of St. Joseph RC Church in North Plainfield, a member of Storr-Richie VFW Post 506, Italian-American Club of North Plainfield, Knights of Columbus of Newark, and Past President of the Iron Bound Executives Assn.
Al was predeceased by his wife, Mary Mezzo January of this year. Surviving are two sons, Alexander V. and wife Debra of Springfield, Anthony A. and wife Paula Mezzo of Basking Ridge, two daughters, Mary Ann and husband James Castiglia of Sparta, and Teresa and husband Michael Boutillette of Somerset. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, and 1 great-granddaughter.
Services will start 9 a.m. Friday from the Scarpa Funeral Home, 22 Craig Place, North Plainfield followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Joseph RC Church in North Plainfield. Entombment will take place in St. Mary's Stony Hill Mausoleum in Watchung. Visitation will be Thursday 5-8 p.m. -
