George Edward Farmer was born on September 10, 1879, in Conway, Mass., to Dennis Samuel Farmer, a laborer, and Rosella (Perry) "Rosalie" Farmer.

George met his future wife Margaret A. Wells at a Grange dance in Conway. On November 18th, 1899, in Conway, Mass., George Edward Farmer age 20, married Margaret Amelia Wells, age 20. Both were butter makers at home. The Rev. Charles Stanley Pease of Conway, Mass., officiated the ceremony. The newlyweds spent a few days of their honeymoon with Margaret Farmer's sister, Mrs. F. M. Munson of Beech street, Greenfield.

In 1900, George Farmer was a butter-maker, by 1910, George was an electrician for the Electric Light Co., and by 1930 George was an Outside Superintendent for Electric Power Co., later known as WMEC.

George loved to go fishing. Many nights after supper he and his brother Charles would drive to Vermont to go fishing. Sometimes his wife Margie and granddaughter Margaret would join them. They would catch "a mess of perch", which when cooked up by Margie, would feed them all. My grandmother Margaret (Sowell) Bourbeau remembered how good those perch tasted!

Each summer George Farmer would take a months vacation to go to Lake Champlain, Canada, often with his granddaughter, Margaret Sowell.

George E. Farmer was a 22 year member of the Mechanics lodge.
