Mr. John Dewey (J.D.) Hufham, 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 12 in Jacksonville, FL. Born October 30, 1919 in Delco, NC, the youngest child of Porter and Amanda Reaves Hufham. He graduated New Hanover H.S. (Wilmington, NC) in 1936 and attended Campbell College. He served in the Pacific theater aboard the Navy Destroyer Ingersoll DD652 as a Radioman 1st Class during WWII. He came to Jacksonville, FL in July, 1960 as Manager Treasurer of the ACL Federal Credit Union where he would retire. He will be remembered as a Godly man for his kindness, heart of service, and love of his family and friends. He loved his church, Terry Parker Baptist and was a member of Arlington Masonic Lodge #309. He was a faithful blood donor giving over 15 gallons, and served 18 years (3787 hours) as a Memorial Hospital Volunteer. He loved bowling, dancing, and staying fit. He will be missed by all who knew him. Preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Bordeaux Hufham, great grandson, Timothy Myers, and six siblings. Left to cherish his memory are daughter, Peggy Myers (Charles); son, John Hufham (Nancy); grandchildren, Dan Myers (Kathi), Brian Myers (Nicole), Kari Hardman (Dan), Josh Hufham (Julie), Stephenie Hughes, Christy Stewart (Joe) and great grandchildren, Rebecca Myers, Chase and Siena Myers, Emma, Lily and Luke Hardman, Nolan Hufham, Samantha Hughes and Riley Stewart and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at 2 pm in the Chapel of Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd., officiated by Rev. Alan Lippart. The family will receive visitors the hour preceding the service.
