Son of Johann David Ludwig Krauss and Luise (Louise) Zoller.
His full name was Adam Ludwig Johann Freidrich Krauss (Krause). When he immigrated to America he changed his name to Louis Adam Krauss because of the negative feelings toward the Germans at that time.

Immigrated abt 1869 as a stow a way on a ship from Germany to the port of Philadelphia, PA. He had experience working with and caring for horses, so he obtained several jobs with these skills. He met Anna T. Libby at a hotel in Chicago and they moved to Iowa, working as a farmer, where all their children were born. Then they migrated to Kansas where they operated a boarding house and farmed until his death.

Mr. Crouse's Funeral: June 29, 1916- Services in Leanna Church, Tomorrow afternoon by E.A.Blackman. The funeral services of Louis A. Crouse will be held in the Leanna Church at 3 PM tomorrow afternoon. They will be conducted by E.A. Blackman pastor of the Chanute Christian Church. The body will be buried beside that of his wife in the Leanna Cemetery.
Mr. Crouse died suddenly Tuesday evening at the home of his son. W.R. Crouse. 1/4 miles southeast of the city.

Edward Crouse Dies of Heart Failure (MY NOTE-ERROR IN HIS NAME)
Coming In From Smoking Pipe and Reading Paper, he Took Drink of Water and Sank Down:
Coming in from outside, where he had gone to smoke his pipe and read a newspaper, Edward Crouse, who lived with his son, W.R. Crouse, three and 1/2 miles southeast of the city, last evening took a drink of water and then sank down gasping.
His son supposed at first that he had fainted or suffered an attack of strangling. He summoned neighbors and they helped him try to revive his father pending the arrival of physicians. When the doctors came, they pronounced the patient dead.
Mr. Crouse was 64 yrs old. He was a pioneer resident of the Leanna neighborhood, east of the city, and his body will be buried in the Leanna Cemetery, beside that of his wife. The funeral services will be conducted by E.A. Blackman, pastor of the Christian Church. The hour will not be fixed until all the relatives are heard from.
Mr. Crouse is survived by 5 children- 3 sons and 2 daughters. Besides the son here there are 2 in Kansas City. One daughter lives in Osowatomie, KS, the other in Sedalia, MO
Heart trouble was the cause of death. Mr. Crouse appeared to be in his usual health early in the evening, eating a hearty supper and then going outside to smoke and read.
