E. Bernice Cober Whitcomb, 92, of Tallahassee, FL passed away to be with her Lord July 9, 2015. She was preceeded in death by her husband Charles D. Cober and children Jane and Kenneth. A native of Los Angeles and Berlin, PA She adopted Tallahassee as her hometown. Bernice was a graduate of Ashland College in Ashland, Ohio with a B.A. in both music and English.
She also had a Master's Degree in Secondary School Administration from Florida Atlantic University. Bernice was a gifted pianist and enjoyed sharing her gift. She greatly enjoyed her profession with the Broward County school System. She was first a chorus and English teacher at Pompano Jr. High then a Dean of Girl's at Northeast High School.
Bernice's greatest loves however, were Christ and her family. Children Joyce Rockwell, James Cober, Dan Cober, and Janice Crowe were were her devotion. To her children Bernice bestowed the love of family and music. Bernice eagerly looked forward to this day when she would be united with Christ Jesus and reunited with loved ones.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 12 at Fellowship Presbyterian Church, 3158 Shamrock St. South Tallahassee, Fl 32309. An internment service will be held in Berlin, PA on July 18, 2015.
