Ernest B. Houk, 80, Moran, died Friday, January 31, at Mercy Hospital, Fort Scott.
Mr. Houk was born August 8, 1894, at Mechanicsburg, Ill. October 8, 1930, he was married to Chelsea M. Miller at Rockford, Ill. She preceded him in death February 27, 1973.
Mr. Houk lived in Taylorville, Ill., many years and moved to Moran a few years ago. He was a retired farmer.He was a 50-year member of Marmaton Lodge No. 245 AF&AM, Eastern Star Morion Chapter 167, a 50-year member of the American Legion Jones-Hardy Post and a member of World War I Moran Barracks. He served in the Navy during World War I for four years.
Surviving are three brothers, Earl F Houk, Moran, Russell E. Houk, Iola and Roscoe Houk, Valley Center, and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held Monday, February 3 to 2 p.m. at Ralston-Hutton Chapel, Moran, with the Rev. Ira Wiley officiating. Interment was in the Moran Cemetery.
