A funeral mass was celebrated Monday, Dec. 5, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Tony Vilano officiating.
Interment followed in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
A vigil service was held Sunday, Dec. 4, at 6 p.m., in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home where the body lay in state prior to the funeral.
Roeder was born June 2, 1922, in Gillespie County, the son of Jacob Roeder and Emilie Klein Roeder. He married Vernell Joseph on Sept. 7, 1950, in St. Mary's Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on March 28, 2003.
At one time, he was the assistant manager for nursing at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Kerrville. He was also a U.S. Army veteran.
Roeder is survived by four sons, three daughters and spouses including Mark Anthony Roeder, James Charles Roeder, Carla Ann Smith and her husband, Ricky, Michael Lee Roeder, Jo Gail Roeder and John Dale Roeder, all of Fredericksburg, and Diana Marie Fisher of Stonewall.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, Roeder was preceded in death by two brothers, Harvey Roeder and Lee Roeder, and a son-in-law, Ronald Fisher.
Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hill Country Memorial Hospital or to the charity of choice.
Pallbearers included John Roeder, Travis Raquet, Michael Lee Roeder, Neil Fisher, Ricky P. Smith, Alan C. Roeder, Mark Anthony Roeder and Levi Sasko.
