Alta Dickerson Adams, 80, of Mercury died Saturday, July 26, 2008, at her home in Mercury.

She was born July 25, 1928, in Brown County, Texas, the daughter of John and Minnie Dickerson. She was married to Joe Frank Adams on Sept. 20, 1947 in Brown County. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1983.

She was a homemaker, and a devoted wife and mother. Mrs. Adams was a member of the Mercury Baptist Church.

Her survivors include two sons, Joey Adams and his wife Carol of Spicewood and Bobby Adams of Mercury; three daughters, Jean Pearson and her husband Jim of Ashdown, Ark., Milly Kirklin and her husband Johnny of Early, and Sheila Adams of Brady; two sisters, Wanda Dyer of Brownwood and Novella Stover of Flower Mound, Texas; one brother, John D. Dickerson of May; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Michael Kirklin.
