Born January 7, 1921, in Savannah, GA, he was a son of the late Clyde Alexander Wilkes, Sr and the late Pearl Victoria Sanders Wilkes. He was a member of Manning First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Director for many years. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps having served during WWII and was awarded the WWII Victory Metal, the American Theater Metal, and the Good Conduct Metal.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brothers and sisters, and a daughter, Rhonda Jayne Wilkes.
