Lettie G. Luke was born to Albert S. Luke and his wife Dr. Julietta Lorrianna (Griffin) Luke on 4 July 1861 in Ashtabula County, Ohio. They family moved west, eventually residing in Marion Township, Harrison County, Missouri (documented in 1870). Lettie has an infant sister Sarah S. Luke buried in the Brown Cemetery, Harrison Co., MO (1864-1865). Her other siblings are Edgar Adelbert Luke, Eddie Luke, Ennis Adella "Della" Luke, and Pearl Alice Luke.

On June 6, 1880, Lettie married Charles Augustus "Gus" Thrailkill in Plum Hollow (now called Thurman), Benton Township, Fremont County, Iowa. They resided in Fremont County for a number of years, helping Gus's parents Andrew J. and Elizabeth (Hanks) Thrailkill. As the Civil War broke out and farming was tough, Gus's father, Andrew, "lost his all", as was locally documented. Their help on the farm and caring for his father was needed. Gus's father Andrew J. died 27 August 1882 and is buried in the Wyuka Cemetery at Nebraska city, Otoe County, NE. His mother was living with his brother Brack L. Thrailkill's family in west Clarinda, Page County, IA at the time of her death 27 March 1903. She is buried beside her husband. (Gus & Lettie's toddler daughter Elizabeth J. Thrailkill 1887-1889 is thought to be buried near these grandparents. Gus & Lettie's infant son Lonnie Thrailkill is buried near her parents, Albert & Julietta Luke, in the Brown Cemetery, near Pawnee, Harrison County, MO).

Lettie and Gus had nine children, seven of those reached adulthood. Their children: Birdie Estella (1881-1956) married Samuel W. Grabill; Dora Alice (1882-1939) married Fred B. Thomas; Edgar Lee(1883-1963); Earnest Albert (1885-1950); Elizabeth J. (1887-1889) mentioned before; Charles Augustus, Jr. (1890-1968); Lonnie (1891-1892); Roy Dee "Jesse" (1893-1939); and Carl Abram Thrailkill (1898-1951).

Gus worked as a farmer, blacksmith, ran a livery stable, and managed the Star Route as a rural mail carrier. Lettie was his support and worked as a housekeeper.

In 1895, Charles, Lettie and family resided in Fayette, Decatur County, Iowa. In 1900, they resided in Hamilton Township, Harrison County, MO. In 1910 & 1920, the family was living in Marion, Harrison County, MO.

Gus and Lettie celebrated their Silver Wedding Anniversary in June 1905. Gus died in 1919 of organic heart disease, age 60 years, 3 months, 3 days.

On 20 July 1924, Lettie married Dr. Jesse Bolin Alley, a veterinarian and twice a widower. They had no children together. Jesse's ten children were grown when they married. Lettie and Jesse continued to reside in Eagleville, MO. Jesse died 6 Dec 1928.

Lettie died ten years later, 4 June 1938, of bronchial pneumonia. She is buried beside her first husband and father of her children, Charles Augustus Thrailkill at Eagleville, MO.
