Daniel Affleck, died, on Feb. 11th, 1892, at the residence of his son, James Affleck, in Chesterton, Daniel Affleck, aged 76 years. The funeral was held on the 14th inst. and the remains buried in the Chesterton cemetery, followed to their last resting place by a large concourse of mourning friends.

David Affleck was born in Scotland in 1816, and was married in 1840. He emigrated to this country in 1849, settling in New York state, and engaged in the milling business. From there he moved to Pennsylvania in 1854 and worked at the same business. In 1857 he went to Minnesota, where he started a new flouring mill for Governor, now Secretary Ramsey. Not liking what was then considered the far West, he moved to Canada, and remained about a year. He then came to Michigan, where he engaged in the milling business until 1867, when he again moved back to New York state. In 1871 he buried his wife, who had been a true and faithful companion in all his travels.

He lived in Geneva, N. Y., until about three years ago, when he came to Chesterton to live with his son, with whom he made his home until death claimed him. His life has always been an upright and truly Christian one and his death was peaceful and painless and mourned by all who knew him.
