Priscilla Caroline "Carrie" (Speer/Speers) Looman Cochran Piburn Moss Miner DeGraw (also known as "Clara") was born on 9 April 1863 in Harrison County, Missouri.

Carrie was the youngest child of David Isaac Speer (1834-1863). He mustered-in to the Union Army during the Civil War on August 13, 1862 in Iowa City, Johnson County, Iowa. He became a Private in the 40th Iowa Volunteer Infantry, Company G, and died of typhoid fever six months later at the Regimental Army Hospital at Columbus, Hickman County, Kentucky, on February 18, 1863 -- about six weeks before Carrie was born. (This information is from his military pension file at the National Archives in Washington D.C., as well as the American Civil War Soldiers database: SPEER, DAVID, BATTLE UNIT NAME: 40th Regiment, Iowa Infantry, SIDE: Union, COMPANY: G, SOLDIER'S RANK IN: Private, SOLDIER'S RANK OUT: Private, FILM: M541 ROLL 25.)

Carrie's mother was Tennessee (Brown) Speer (1828-1863), who in grief about her husband's death, took her own life by hanging near Bethany, Harrison County, Missouri, about seven months after Carrie's birth. Carrie, and her brothers and sisters, were raised by relatives.

Carrie first married Cyrus Lincoln "Cy" Looman (1863-1936) in Harrison County, Missouri on September 28, 1879, when she was sixteen years old. From this marriage, six children were born:
1.) Rev. Elmer Logan Looman (1880-1966)
2.) John William Looman (1882-1974)
3.) Charles Henry Looman (b. 1884)
4.) Cora Elizabeth Looman (1886-1887)
5.) Josie May (Looman) Gallamore (1887-1932)
6.) Nora Olive "Ollie" (Looman) Bickford Taylor Zelenok (1890-1983)

[Please note: Vessie H. Looman (1891-1891), FAG#14891993, is not the son of Cyrus Looman and his first wife Priscilla "Carrie" (Speer) Looman, as stated in family trees at FamilySearch.org. The birth dates of Cyrus Looman's children Nora, born 26 September 1890, and Vessie, born 8 January 1891, are only 3-1/2 months apart, an impossibly brief period of time for one woman to give separate births to two children. -- Vessie H. Looman is, in fact, the son of Cyrus Looman and his second wife, Sarah (Kidwell) Looman.]

Following her divorce from Cyrus Looman, Carrie married five more times:
m. 2.) G. M. Cochran, married in Gallatin, Missouri, on 13 July 1893,
m. 3.) Thomas J. Piburn, married in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, on 19 December 1895,
m. 4.) James Harvey Moss, married in Mercer County, Missouri, ca. 1897,
m. 5.) Elisha J. Miner, married in Guthrie, Oklahoma Territory, on 23 March 1904,
m. 6.) Andrew Cornelius DeGraw, married in Greeley, Colorado, on 27 July 1908.

Note: Carrie had no children of her own from her other marriages. However, she had 3 step-children from James Harvey Moss, her fourth husband, who she sent away to be raised by various in-laws after his tragic death: Sarah "Sarrie/Sallie" (Moss) Hall, Buena Vista "Vistie" (Moss) Tobius, and Cecil "Pete" Moss.

"Priscilla C. DeGraw" died of chronic endocarditis on October 19, 1927, at age 64 years, 6 months, 10 days, at the home of her son, John W. Looman, 2302 Myrtle Street, Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri, according to her state death certificate (#30448, file 3955).

She was buried next to her last husband, Andrew C. DeGraw, at Antioch Cemetery, located southeast of Bethany, Harrison County, Missouri, on October 21, 1927.
