Funeral services are planned for 10:30 am, Monday, July 13, 2015, at St. Marks Lutheran Church in Waterville. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Waterville.
Isla was born January 16, 1920, on the family farm north of Waterville, to Clarence and Rosa M. (Thiessen) Ham. On April 9, 1939, she married Lloyd Solt he passed away in 1973. On March 8, 1976, she married Abe Shortt, he passed away in 2001.
She was a farmwife most of her life in the Waterville and Belvue areas. She always enjoyed working in her garden, canning its produce, sewing and baking. Isla and her husband Lloyd owned and operated the Golden Rural Produce at Waterville for many years from the late 1930s to the mid 1940s.
Survivors include her three children; Elden Solt and wife Karen of Wamego, Ron Solt of Vieques Puerto Rico and Rosie Solt of Council Grove, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Isla was preceded in death by both parents, a stillborn son, Karl, and two brothers; Kenneth Ham and Sylvester Ham.
Memorials are suggested to Accord Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
