Howard is one of three sons of Andrew G. and Nellie C. Anderson. He died suddenly while driving home to his farm west of Floyd. He had delivered a load of cream and stopped at a filling station operated by his brother, Lee Anderson, and seemed to be in good health.

About two weeks previous, he had a slight heart attack while shoveling snow from his farm lane, and a few day later complained of pain in his chest while lifting a can of cream to his truck.

According to the coroner, he apparently felt the attack coming on and pulled to the side of the road stopping his truck west of Charles City. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

He married Hilda A. Gauger on April 10, 1919 in Floyd. He had three sons and two daughters.
