Son of James Baynum and Catherine Taylor Davis.

Grandson of William Baynum I & Zipporah Bradford and Phillip Davis & Katey Taylor.

After sister, Catron's birth (Feb.1817), the Baynum family left Maryland in the spring and arrived at Limestone (now Maysville, Ky) and moved to Nicholas County about 5 miles from Millersburg and 3 miles from Carlisle on Brush Creek. Left there about 1 year later and moved to Pendleton County near Falmouth for about 3 years. Tax records support this. Purchased 155 acres on east fork of 12 Mile Creek in Campbell County in 1823 and were living there by 1826 if not sooner.

The family included:
James Baynum - his father
Catherine - his mother
Belitha T - himself
Josiah D - his brother
Charlaitty - his sister
Catron Z - his sister
William III - his cousin (son of William Baynum II and Elizabeth Carey, both deceased). James Baynum was made his guardian.

The 1820 census of Pendleton County, Ky supports the above.

Also his cousin, James Baynum (brother of Wm III) came as well but settled in Augusta, Bracken Co, Ky.
He can be found in the 1830 census there.

---
Married Sarah Louise Hitch, the daughter of George Jackson Hitch & Eliza Jane Hitch (nee Hitch) on September 21, 1868 in Pendleton County, Ky.

children:
James William Baynum - August 30, 1870 - March 03, 1965
