Dorothy Franzen, 83, formerly of Hutto, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2005 at Trinity Care Center in Round Rock.

Visitation will be 6-8 P.M. Friday, April 8, 2005 at Providence Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 9, 2005 at Providence Funeral Home with Rev. Kathye Schade officiating. Burial will follow at the Hutto City Cemetery.

Dorothy was born on November 11, 1921 in Hutto to Dock and Effie (Kilgore) King. She graduated from Liberty Hill High School as the class valedictorian. She received full scholarships from University of Texas, Texas A&M, and SMU. She was a radio specialist during WWII at Bergstrom Field in Austin. Dorothy was married to Anton Franzen, Sr. on April 27, 1946 in the home of Rev. Jacks in Austin, Texas.

Dorothy was an all around wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a strong supporter of the P.T.A. and athletics at the Hutto schools. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for over twelve years. She also had many other outstanding qualities that included cooking, crepe making, and being a great seamstress. She was also noted as a great marksman with a .22 caliber gun.

Dorothy was preceded in death by three brothers; Coen, Charles, and Gordon and one infant sister.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 59 years, Anton Franzen, Sr. of Round Rock; two sons, Tony Franzen and wife Dee of Hutto and Gordon Franzen and wife Lynn of Austin; a brother, Aaron King of Rockdale; four grandchildren, Kirk Franzen of San Francisco, Tiffany Holt and husband Spc. J.R. Holt and Kory Franzen of Chattanooga, TN., and Erica Franzen of Austin; and close friend Virginia Teichelman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Harry Hanson, Charles Hanstrom, Lee Martinez, and Ed Schmidt.

Pallbearers will be John Chambers, John Coats, Mike King, Donny Menardes, Chuck Miller, Tom Miller and Mike Rigsby..
