She received her education in local schools and worked in factories and shoe shops in the greater Lewiston area.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Livermore Falls for many years and was a Life Member and a Past Matron of the O.E.S., serving as secretary for 30 years. She was also a Life member and Past Worthy High Priestess of the Rugged Cross White Shine, serving as treasurer for 19 years and was a Life member and Past Grand Royal Matron and Past Grand Secretary of the Amaranth. She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, AROK Temple and was a member of several square dance clubs through Western Maine.
Arlene was a fan and devoted member of Red Sox Nation; David Ortiz was her favorite. She was not one to be idle and enjoyed knitting and crocheting when not playing Rummy or Skip-Bo with family and friends. In the evening, she enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy. Although she lead a busy, active life, her most precious time was the time which she shared in the company of her family.
She is survived by a son, Gordon L. Norton and his wife, Gloria of Wilton; two daughters; Carol A. Pillsbury and her companion, Oral Tibbetts of Jay; and Nancy L. Kelley and her husband, John, of Lewiston; 15 grandchildren; 32 Great Grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by husband, Ralph Norton in 1987 and Adam Zabierek in 1996; two daughters: Jessie Carter and Mary Norton and two grandchildren: Dakota Maberry and Scott Maberry, Jr. and a sister, Winifred R. Moore.
Graveside services will be held at the S. Bridgton Cemetery, Bridgton.
