Mr. Shortt was a construction superintendent for various companies before retiring. He enjoyed wintering in Florida, and was a member of First Parish Church of Berlin and the Hudson Senior Citizens.
The memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, July 1, in Merrill-Carleton Funeral Home, 1 Pleasant St. Calling hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 1, in the funeral home. Burial will be private. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions may be made to the Berlin Fire and Rescue Squad, c/o Jan Bartlett, 115 Linden St., Berlin, MA 01503.
