John David Winn was the son of WILLIAM and ROSAMOND HAMPTON WINN who were both born around 1732 with unknown death and burial locations.

William's father was MINOR WINN, 1704-1778, Find A Grave #211907364 and his mother,
MARGARET CONNOR WINN, 1708-1788, Find A Grave #211907456 have their JOINT MEMORIAL STONE
in the City of Warrenton, Fauquier County, Virginia Cemetery founded in 1759.

The family moved from Virginia to Fairfield Co., South Carolina where they founded the town of Winnsborough (later Winnsboro). JOHN DAVID WINN and ELEANOR HICKS were married in 1784 and had ten children: Jeremiah, Martha, William, John, Mary (Polly), James, Jemima, Martin, Richard, and Minor.

Sometime after 1793, John David and his family moved to Madison Co., Kentucky where in 1813 John Winn donated 1.5 acres of land to Union City Baptist Church in Richmond,KY. This is still an active church. The Winn family remained in KY until 1818, when they set out for Missouri. They came up the Missouri River by keel boat stopping at Glasgow, Howard Co., Missouri.

(1786-1822) include 4 of John Winn's daughters:
Martha Winn (1782-1857) (FindAGrave#68410490) married Nathaniel Lowery (1776-1861) (FindAGrave#68371287) on 10/02/1797. Both are buried in Blackwater Cemeter,Holden, Johnson County, Missouri

Mary Ann "Polly" Winn(1787-1833) married William Hurt on 01/10/1803. No gravestones have been found for them. Their oldest child, Moses Hurt (FindAGrave #5215682) was born 11/25/1803 and died 11/04/1864 in New Hope Cemetery, Salisbury, MO. Moses married Eliza Jane Hayes (FindAGrave# 5215692) on 02/26/1834 in Chariton County, MO. Eliza's memorial states she had 10 sons and 4 daughters with Moses.

Sarah Winn born 12/14/1796 married Isaac Runyon on 6/1/1812. No other information is known.

Jemima Winn (1794-1882) (FindAGrave #73750701) married Payton Leftridge Hurt (1790-1874) on 01/14/1813. She is buried at Salisbury, MO, Cemetery next to her sons Milton Hurt (1819-1897) and Nathan Hurt (1822-1905). Payton Hurt is buried at Fayette City Cemetery, Fayette, Howard County, MO. His FindAGrave #58860946
