Geiger, Martha Jane Kennon 92, longtime resident of Minnetonka and St. Louis Pk., passed away on the Fourth of July - fireworks appearing out her window. She was born in Iowa City, Iowa and grew up in Minneapolis, graduating from Washburn High School in 1940. She graduated from the U of M and was a social worker for Hennepin County until she married Bob Geiger, her junior high sweetheart, in 1946. Next came the suburbs and parenthood. She resumed her social work career in the 1960s, working in Hennepin County child protection until her retirement in 1982. Retirement was filled with collecting and organizing information, travel, and enjoying the family cabin on Beautiful Bass Lake. Martha was a dedicated member of: Girl Scouts, Delta Delta Delta Sorority, League of Women Voters, St. George's Episcopal Church and choir (proud alto), Loon Rangers, book group, and bridge clubs. She was an arts enthusiast, supporting the Minnesota Orchestra, Children's Theater and the Guthrie. She was a lifelong news junkie and responsible citizen and voter. Martha was predeceased by her husband Bob, parents Ralph and Mabel Kennon, brother Ralph C. Kennon, sister-in-law Suzanne Kennon, and brother-in-law Pete Oberhauser.
A special thanks to the fun and caring staff at Parkshore in St. Louis Pk., her home for the past seven years.
