Hazel L. Nye
Hazel L. Nye, 85, of Carey, OH, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 12:30 a.m. at her residence.
She was born Friday, February 27, 1925, daughter of the late Ira and Nettie (Roush) Swisher.
She married Norman N. Nye on May 23, 1953 in Richmond, IN. He preceded her in death on April 6, 1999.
Surviving are two daughters; Judy (Mike) DeAmicis, Jean (James) Gordon, one son, Jeff (Helen) Nye, all of Carey. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, a sister, Grace Clark, Middleport, OH.
She was preceded in death by a son, James I. Nye and one grandson, one brother and two sisters.
Hazel was a homemaker and helped raise many children in Carey. Her love of children also was evident serving as a Cub Scout leader for many years. She enjoyed yardwork, flower gardening, puzzles and word search.
She was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carey.
Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m.Friday, June 11, 2010 at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey, Ohio. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral Services will be held at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Art Wilde officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring Grove Cemetery, Carey, OH. 43316.
