Sallie Caffery Walker was the daughter of Capt. John and Mary Donelson Caffery, of the Donelson Expedition to Nashville, Tennessee in 1779-80. She was the niece of Rachel (Donelson) Jackson, wife of US Pres. Andrew Jackson.

According to an article ("Walker of Elizabeth City County, Virginia") in Boddie's Historical Southern Families, she is buried in the Latham Cem., [Moniteau Co.,] MO. However, recent better researched information is that her grave is in Woodland-Old City Cemetery in Jefferson City.

Gravesite Details

The large tablet-type stone is in poor condition due to its age and careless grounds keepers, but it is currently undergoing restoration thanks to a generous grant from the Historic City of Jefferson.
