Bessie Mae Perkins Harmon Carmichael, 92, Marion, died at 5:20 a.m., on Friday, July 3, 2015 in Wesleyan Health Care Center. She was born in Fleming Co., KY to the late Santford and Alta (Woodard) Perkins. She married James E. Carmichael on September 9, 1995; he preceded her in death on October 6, 2006.

Bessie retired from Marion General Hospital in 1985 where she worked as a nurse’s aide. She was a member of West 8th St. Wesleyan Church, where she taught Sunday school. She loved her church, her family, and cooking.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennie Carmichael, Marion; grandson, David (Laura) Carmichael; granddaughter, Tara Carmichael; great grandson, Eric Carmichael, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Bessie was preceded in death by her first husband, Lloyd Crain Harmon, whom she married on February 9, 1939. He died on October 14, 1988. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Lectie, Lettie, Delcie and Dorothy; brothers, Woodrow and Dudley, and son-in-law, Harold Carmichael.

Services for Bessie will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave. Marion, IN 46952 with Pastors Dan Van Cise and Ben Gray officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., on Wednesday, prior to the service, at the funeral home. -
