Lt. O.B. Carr, platoon leader: 82nd Airborne Division's 505 Parachute Infantry Regiment.
Prior to jumping into France in the wee hours of D Day, he had jumped into battle twice before, in North Africa and then Sicily. And he wasn't done. Later, the 505th jumped into Belgium as part "Operation Market Garden," a failed Allied attempt to shorten the war that would later be immortalized in the movie "A Bridge Too Far."
