Al Buell, 84, a long-time resident of Aguila, died on August 20, in Maricopa County Burn Unit. Mr. Buell was badly burned in a fire which destroyed his Winnebago en route to Yarnell August 6, 1981.

A native of Oklahoma born enroute to Brandts, Missouri, he graduated from the Colorado School of Mines before engaging in road building in Kansas City. Prior to WWII he was in the Flying Tigers for three years. Upon returning to the states, he worked as a Peace officer in California. He came to Arizona in the late 1930's and operated the Victory Café at Litchfield Park Road and Glendale Avenue across from Luke Field. He returned to mining and was owner of the Black Rock Mine south of Aguila mining manganese for the government stockpile in Wendon, Arizona.

He operated several cafes, and motels in Aguila, Tempe and Apache Junction area.

Mr. Buell was a member of the American Legion in Wickenburg and was a past president of the Lion's Club in Aguila.

For the past ten years he has been a mining engineering consultant.
Survivors include a daughter, Leona Gallegus, Missoula, Montana; a son, Red Buell in Bentonville, Arkansas, one sister, Billie Rubellee, Phoenix, a niece, Pat Rubellee, Phoenix as will a brother out of state.

Graveside services were held on Aug. 25 at the Aguila Cemetery.
Funeral services were arranged by Wickenburg Funeral Home.
