Hutchinson Herald, Menno, SD, January 2002 —

Edwin Aisenbrey, 82, Menno, died Friday, January 4, 2002, at the Freeman Community Hospital.

Funeral services for Mr. Aisenbrey were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 7, 2002, at Peace Christian Reformed Church in Menno with Rev. William Weber officiating. Organist for the service was Velda Heckenlaible and congregational hymns included "Precious Lord Take My Hand," and "When Peace Like A River." Special music was a quartet consisting of Chris, Danny, David and Brian Fergen singing "How Great Thou Art." The duet selection of David and Danny Ferger was entitled "Thank You."

Pallbearers were Danny Fergen, Brian Fergen, David Fergen, Christ Fergen, Mark Holdridge, and Matt Lang.

Interment was at the Menno Cemetery with arrangements by Aisenbrey - Kostel Funeral Home.

Edwin Aisenbrey was born to Carl and Louise (Schempp) Aisenbrey on June 26, 1919, in Menno, S. Dak. Edwin was baptized on August 17, 1919, by Rev. Rittershaus. He was confirmed in July of 1934 by Rev. john Bodenman at Salem Reformed Church in Menno. Edwin attended country school near Menno.

On January 7, 1940, he was united in marriage with Nora Schnabel by Rev. William Korn.

Edwin loved farming for which he did for 23 years. He owned and operated Ed's Food Market in Menno from 1963 to 1976. In 1967, he was on the original board and managed James Valley Apartments. When the Menno - Olivet Retirement Home fist opened, Edwin was on the original board. Edwin was a Sunday School teacher for 17 years, and a Deacon and Elder at Salem Reformed Church in Menno. He was very strong in his faith.

He is survived by his wife, Nora, Menno; a son, Dennis (Cindy) Aisenbrey, Menno; two daughters, Dianne Aisenbrey (Bruce McBeath), Ellsworth, Wisc., and Audrey (Bill) Fergen, Menno; his eight grandchildren: Mark, Kyle, Matt, Stephanie, Chris, Brain, David and Danny; his four great grandchildren: Amy, Lea, Paige, and Hailey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Ernest, Herbert, and Arthur; and one sister, Adella Mettler.
