Mrs. Bert Utesch

Mrs. Bert Utesch, 84, 209 4th Ave. NW, died Thanksgiving day (Nov. 22, 1973) at Floyd Valley hospital after a brief illness.

Mrs. Utesch has been a resident of LeMars the last 31 years.

Funeral services will be Monday, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran church, Johnson township, with Rev. Robert Salge officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of the Luken-Johnson funeral home. A prayer service will be held Sunday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

The former Lena Spines, she was born Nov. 29, 1888, at Struble, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Spines. She was married Jan. 16,1908, in LeMars. The couple farmed in the LeMars area, Washington township, moving into LeMars in 1942. Mrs. Utesch was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church, Johnson township.

Survivors are her husband, Bert of LeMars; four sons, Fred of Sioux City, Wait of Hawarden, Earl of LeMars and Harold of Oyens; four daughter, Mrs. Ray (Esther) Jensen of LeMars, Mrs. LeRoy (Caroline) Aldrich of Humboldt, S.D., Mrs. Otis (Vera) Dotson of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mrs. Louis (Evalyn) Wilkens of Stuart, Fla. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Utesch was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, a brother and a daughter.
