They returned to California and had located to Yreka by 1949. He returned to active duty during the Korean War, assigned to the Oak Knoll Navel Hospital in the San Francisco Bay area.
Tom was active in civic affairs in Yreka; volunteer fire department, Lions Club, city council, and a term as Mayor.
