NEW YORK, April 20, (AP)-John Mark Glenn, 91, a leader for many years in public and private welfare activities, died tonight at New York Hospital after a tried illness.
He was born in Baltimore, where he practiced law before coming to New York City. He was widely known in charitable service circles here and was a trustee of the Johns Hopkins University from 1906 to 1942.
Mr. Glenn in 1906 helped Mrs. Russell Sage set up the foundation that bears her name. He was its first secretary and remained a trustee for more than 41 years.
Active In Many Fields
He helped direct the foundations's child welfare improvement program, a study of women in industry, loan shark control laws, safe Fourth of July program, education surveys and the development of a master plan for the New York city area.
He aided in the ten-year study of the new York metropolitan area and was a founder and director of the Regional Plan Association.
Wife Died in 1940
In addition to his charitable services, Mr. Glenn was active in protestant Episcopal Church affairs.
His wife worked beside him in the national social work field until her death in 1940. She was the former Mary Wilcox Brown, daughter of a prominent Baltimore banker.
Mr. Glenn studied at Washington and Lee University, Johns Hopkins and the University of Maryland.
Funeral services will be held here Saturday."
